Sick Chick Weekend

Nora got sick last Thursday (well Weds night). Pete went out of town for work on Wednesday night. I woke up Thursday morning, got ready, did everything necessary to get myself to work and Nora to school. At 745 Nora woke up (and I REALLY was ready for the day-amazing) and was boiling hot. I took her temp at it was over 102. I called the doctor got us an appointment, called work and told them Nora was sick and called her school... I thought for sure she had an ear infection. Before the doctor appointment we played outside and she was doing great until she skinned her knee (see above photo). We went to the doctor and the doc said it was just a virus..... OK.... So, Thursday night comes around and Nora will not eat and she begins crying and screaming like a mad woman. I took her temp at it was 103.5. I was so scared.. She has never had that high of a temp. I give her Motrin and she passes out in her crib. I call the doctors office (thank God for the Edina office being open) and talk to a sweet nurse. She was calm and walked me through a few things etc. She also said if Nora's temp did not go down w/in an hour that I may need to take her to the ER... OK, panic sets in... I call my parents and tell them to be ready to go with me etc. Nora woke up at 630pm- I put her in the bath to cool her off--she just screams which is odd because Nora loves to be in the bathtub. Her temp didn't go down. The nurse called me at 7 to get Nora's temp info etc. and Nora was eating blueberries. The nurse said to let her eat as much as she wants and drink lots and take her temp again. Thankfully at 8 pm it was down to 102 ish.... Whew... I had to take her temp in the middle of the night and give her Motrin. Next day we get up and she is still sick with a fever. Again at dinner time the fever spikes. I put her in the tub and she started shivering. I got nervous so I called my neighbor who is a nurse. She came right over and checked Nora out. She spent 30 mins with us and assured me she was fine but I need to watch her. Nora woke up at 245 am and was up until 430.... She had a 102.7 fever. The next morning (Saturday) she still had the fever... I called the doc office and they had me take her in. They looked at her ears etc and things looked great. They were concerned that she had a UTI so they told me that they were going to draw some blood and put a catheter in her to check her urine. I was like WHAT! Well, they had to do it....I have never heard a kid scream so loud in my life. Nora was freaking out. The first nurse couldn't get the catheter in so another one had to do it. I do have to say they did the transfer seamlessly though. Nora was MAD! After they are done I pick Nora up to snuggle her and she pees all over me. Then the next nurse comes in to take her blood and Nora gave her the look of death. She got the blood. Then the doc comes in to give us our results and she literally stood by the door as she knew Nora would scream if she came any closer.... Nora did not have a UTI--she had a virus.... Well, the virus was roseola. Her fever broke last night and she now is covered in a lovely rash. I am delighted the worst of it is over.

People are RUDE.

Seriously, are people just plain freaking rude now? I swear barely anyone has common courtesy, kindness, or customer service this day in age. I have felt this way for quite sometime but after my lunch hour I want to say SCREW YOU to about 3 or 4 different people I dealt with.... I went to get my car washed at Paradise Car Wash in Bloomington, formerly known as Buff N' Shine. My car (SUV) has been filthy for months now (big shocker). I finally got my butt over to the car wash today over lunch and was more than excited to finally be getting my car cleaned. I pull up and the individual "assisting" in the decision of which car wash the patrons should purchase says "hi." I say hi back and inform him that my car is a pit, it needs to be vacuumed, bugs off the windshield etc. I ask him for his expertise and he says "any car wash will be great for you." I then decide to go with the Admiral and he tells me I made a good choice because that is what most people get. So, I am confident I will be a satisfied customer. I go inside to pay and wait for the employees to work their magic. After about 15 minutes I am waved over to my car. I tip one of the dudes and give him my claim ticket. I hop in my car and I look back and notice the entire back end of my car is still covered in sand. I threw my car in reverse and about 3 workers book it to my car. I state that it does not appear that my car was vacuumed. John says, "which car wash did you purchase?" I told him the admiral. He says "oh that one doesn't vacuum the back end of SUV's" I said well the guy up front told me I was covered with any selection. John then says "I will back you car in and vacuum it." I said, great thanks. I stand there for a few minutes and John comes back and says he is done. I said thanks. The he says "do you mind paying the additional $2.50 to have your car vacuumed since it didn't come with the car wash you purchased?" I looked at him and I said yeah, John I do have a problem paying the additional money for the vacuum and he looks at my like he is going to kill me. He says "well next time get the car wash above the Admiral and you will be covered." I then say well maybe you should inform your dude up front to give out correct info. He says I will. My blood was boiling so bad that all I could do was give him "the look" and leave. So, I am driving down the road and seriously, a blind person w/o hands could have cleaned my car better. I will never go back to Paradise Car Wash again. They suck.

Then, I go to Clover Cleaners in Bloomington to drop off some dry cleaning. Of course the people in there are more than nice.

After CC I head to McDonald's to get myself some lunch (everyone needs to have FatDonald's once in awhile). I pull up to the drive thru and I am greeted with the usual "welcome to McDonald's can I take your order?" I give him my order and pull up to the first window as I am instructed. The employee is hollering at one of his workers as she is leaving and basically spitting in my face. I hand him my card and he says oh thanks...That is all he says... Then I go to window 2.... UMMMM the guy there didn't say hi to me, thank you, nothing. I thanked him after each item he handed to me and told him to have a nice day. The little red head didn't even give me a smile. I wanted to smack him. I cannot say that I will never go to McDonald's again but good God.. someone teach these people manners. I understand we all have bad days but seriously, get a clue and be nice. Leave your personal issues at home and do your freaking job!

Is this another way to announce a trailer park?

Nora found the park in Crosslake!

We went to CL this past weekend. We were suppose to be up there with my sister and Joe along with my parents to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, my aunt had some medical setbacks so my parents decided not to go up. Lissie and Joe were up on Friday with their friend Lisa. Saturday morning on it was just the dogs, Pete, Nora and me. We had fun. The weather was not great but we had fun anyway. We stumbled across the park in CL. We went there after dinner Saturday night. Here are a few pictures.
Swinging w/o her hot pink croc.
Tunnel slide.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEE
That was awesome dude!

Sweet--a new toy!

Nora could live outside which is great by us! We spend more time in our front yard than we do in our backyard. After a couple of months trying to find a fun toy for her out front, we stumbled upon this contraption. It is awesome. I took some video of her reaction but oddly, I captured the footage upside down again. Her reaction was priceless. She screamed and put her hands on her knees then ran for this deal. She seems to still like the device and so does her new little neighbor friend, Ellie.
First climb on the toy... Notice she is climbing up the slide?
Pete showcasing how to get to the slide the correct way.
Anticipating the first slide down!
The sports climber. It has a basketball hoop, soccer "net" and football tossing hole! It is rad.
Oh, I guess she doesn't like to listen to her daddy (or her mommy)! This purchase was a wise one! Highly recommended!

Purple Pool!

The Swarty's got a pool... No, not an in ground pool. A kick butt Menard's plastic pool. We are trying to be like the Swim's in GA. The water was too cold for Nora at first. She loves her pool so much that we have to put it in the yard even if there isn't water in it.....

Nora, Chloe and HG

Nora has no fear of our dogs. Chloe lets her terrorize her. HG usually just slips out of the room.
So sweet
In the photo the head touch looks gentle but it really isn't!
Do you see the look on Chloe's face?
Giddy Up!
Hey Nora, please leave me alone!
Giving Chloe loves.

HG accepting "loves" from Nora.

Nora!

Nora, please sit her your chair.
Thank you.

Hanging at the lake over the 4th!

We went to CL for the 4th of July weekend. We took tons of pictures but I will only bore you with a few!
Izzy and Nora playing in the sand.
Sitting in the hole that Izzy dug
Grandpa bought Nora a fishing pole but Nora didn't want to have anything to do with it.... Until, her ever so talented fisher chick mother caught her an awesome fish!
See the huge fish I caught? Yes, we are classy with a box of hot Corona on the dock... Apparently Lissie forgot to bring it up to the house.

Is Nora a beverage?

The other day Nora was hanging out in the porch. I went to check on her and I found her sitting in the beverage tray.

Messy NESsy!

Nora adores feeding herself. It is quite messy but she loves to do it. She allows Pete or myself to give her the first 3 or 4 bites then she INSISTS on taking over. Chloe and Hula Girl do an excellent job of cleaning up the floor, her tray and her chair. The only items they do not like are grapes and blueberries. They also are not super good and licking up rice but that is OK.
Pasta anyone?
She usually eats with her fork or spoon but somehow in the photo above she has the spoon with served the meal with....
She did get some yogurt in her mouth. She is on container number 2!
So serious....
Got corn?
